Queen Beyoncé is in her business bag in 2024, and everything she touches turns to gold! In true fashion, Beyoncé narrates a SirDavis Whisky ad and sets her sights on conquering a new industry: spirits and liquor. On Sept. 23, the mogul dropped three caption-less posts: two slideshows and one lo-fi commercial shot on a hand-held, showcasing her now iconic country aesthetic and her newest business venture — SirDavis Whisky. The work speaks for itself when you’re THAT girl!
Following an exclusive launch party in July, weeks of pre-orders, and press through August, Queen Bey dropped the commercial on Sept. 4, which she narrates. The same day, the award-winning liquor, created in partnership with liquor conglomerate Moët-Hennessy, hit shelves. It sent social media into a frenzy over the superstar’s foray into a new industry.
Now, on Sept. 23, the singer is using her platform to drop additional visuals to promote the brand. The bottle is front and center in many photos and video shots, with its sleek, ribbed design and a single golden horse against a black medallion background as the logo. At other times, Beyoncé can be seen sipping from a whiskey glass while doing what she does best: being a global icon and looking good.
The origins of SirDavis Whisky
Per Billboard, the name SirDavis is an homage to her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue. According to the singer’s mother, Tina Knowles, Hogue insisted on being addressed by “Sir.” (Is it too far of a reach that this nickname also inspired her son Sir Carter’s name?) Davis Hogue was a moonshiner and farmer in the American South during the Prohibition Era. Who knew? It seems like new Beyoncé lore dropped for the group chat!
SirDavis is already making history: its headquarters are in Texas, better known as Beyoncé’s home state. It marks the first liquor brand by Moët-Hennessy to be developed entirely in the United States. Texas is where the liquor is finished, blended, and bottled, sealing its origin as profoundly American.
SirDavis has already earned many accolades
In 2023, the SirDavis team anonymously submitted the drink to several spirits competitions. The luxury offering won Best in Class for American Whiskey from the 2023 SIP Awards, among other distinctions, per sirdavis.com. As a result, the drink has proven that it can stand alone without having Beyoncé’s name attached. Of course, having Bey’s name, as well as spirits powerhouse Moët-Hennessy, behind it doesn’t hurt either.
SirDavis marks another brand carefully crafted by Beyoncé and her team that fits seamlessly into her current era of branding (Cowboy Carter) while deeply rooted in the singer’s heritage. 2024 has been busy for our girl. At the top of 2024, she launched CÉCRED, an inclusive hair care brand. The marketing honored her mother, a hairstylist who had her own salon while the singer was growing up. CÉCRED’s ads heavily featured home videos of young Beyoncé and Tina as well as the salon, giving fans a further look into the private lives of these women.
