Andre 3000 is making another return to the big screen, and the role is unlike anything the rapper has previously starred in. The rapper, who is credited by his real name Andre Benjamin, signed on to star alongside Robert Pattinson in French director Claire Denis’ sci- fi flick High Life.
The film follows a group of convicts, who descend into a journey through a black hole with the promise of freedom. Pattinson’s voice can be heard throughout the trailer describing the journey into space while the convicts undergo sexual experiments.
The trailer briefly shows Benjamin’s character ‘Tcherny’ in a maroon fit digging dirt in a space garden.
This is the rapper’s first appearance onscreen since his breakout role as Jimi Hendrix in 2013’s Jimi: All Is By My Side.
Rounding out the rest of the cast is Mia Goth, Lars Eidinger, Ewan Mitchell, Agata Buzek, Jessie Ross, and Claire Tran. Juliette Binoche plays Dr. Gibs who spearheads the strange voyage.
The film is set to be released on Nov. 7 in France and in the states in 2019.
