Summertime has finally arrived! This time of year is great for barbeques, walks around the neighborhood, and impromptu pool days. However, we have to be prepared for the summer showers, too. While it’s great to have plans for warm and sunny days, having a few indoor rainy-day activities on deck doesn’t hurt!

Just because it’s raining does not mean that all joy and fun has to cease! Whether you prefer to stay in on rainy days or find somewhere to go, there are great options to choose from. Here are five indoor rainy-day activities to enjoy this summer!

1. Visit a museum.

If you are an art lover or wish to learn more about art, consider visiting a museum. Even if you’re not the biggest art fan, a museum near you may exhibit subjects you care about — African American history and science are great examples. Typically, you can check their websites to see what exhibits are running and purchase tickets online!

2. Go bowling.

Bowling is not reserved for 10-year-old birthday parties! For those who like a little competition, grab a few friends and head to your local bowling alley. This is one of the best indoor rainy-day activities because bowling alleys typically serve food and drinks. This way, you don’t have to find a restaurant to go to later. Additionally, bowling alleys often have arcades that keep the fun going all night long.

3. Host a game night.

Sometimes, you and your friends just want to do something without leaving home. Game nights are an excellent option for homebodies. Invite your friends over for card and board games! Have your friends responsible for bringing the games while you whip up chip dip for everyone to enjoy. Once you are done with the games, finish the game night off with a movie!

4. Bake or cook something new.

When you’re stuck in the house and have binged every Netflix show available, it’s a good idea to try something new. If you love to bake or cook, consider trying that recipe you’ve been eyeing for months, or search the internet for a recipe that will satisfy a craving. Not only will you likely get a delicious result, but you’ve also added a new recipe to your repertoire!

5. Go rock climbing.

For those who prefer to hike or run during the summer, there is an alternative for rainy days. Rock climbing is an excellent choice for those needing active indoor rainy-day activities. Not only will it get you out of the house, but you can also get a great workout in! For even more fun, bring your best friend or your partner.

Although the rain can be relaxing, it doesn’t mean that you have to sit around and do nothing or cancel your plans! Pivot those plans and pick one of these fantastic options. If you want more relaxing options, consider reading a new book. On the flip side, you can pick up a canvas and paint to see what you can create!
