Former CEO, Sofia Amoruso started Nasty Gal in 2006 as vintage eBay shop. Her business grew and has become very popular with trendy millennial women. The fashion forward retailer has a large online presence and two locations in Los Angles. Their early expansion came in part from Amoruso’s New York Times bestseller: #Girlboss and has continued to be a PR booster with the foundation by the same name that provides financial grants to women in the arts.
However, Nasty Gal is not doing as well as her supporters have hoped. As the story is currently developing the true cause of this decline is unclear, but they are experiencing layoffs, CEO changes, board alterations, and are now preparing to file bankruptcy. They are filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy in order to make some needed adjustments, and attempt to rebuild the company to its former glory. Their investors are also pumping millions in as a last stitch effort to revive the brand.
Look for Nasty Gal for your Christmas shopping needs. Support the woman who is empowering millions of female artist, designers, and entrepreneurs. Good luck to all you nasty girls out there
