Kanye West has always been a unique character. From getting a meaningful gospel/rap song like ” Jesus Walks” played on the radio in the early 2000’s to being able to crash sneaker websites in seconds in more current times and then seeing his shoe prices reach triple the original box price, you can’t deny the man is great. He has the ability to sit on a Daytime Television interview and be the talk of Social Media for weeks , the ability to literally stop the world with a Twitter rant, the ability to have millions opening an tidal subscription just for The Life of Pablo, and even more recently the ability to announce a secret show at 2am and have a mob of people willing to follow him around New York City just to see him perform. The sight reminded me of Tom Hanks running in the movie Forest Gump. Then I wondered, what if Kanye kept riding around NYC on the roof of his car, would people eventually stop following ? Or would they follow for weeks until Kanye, himself says “Okay enough its time to go home now.”
GOAT or not, Kanye West’s ‘king’ position in our generation is undeniable. New York City has been the home to creative young faces for decades, the fact that Kanye West can disrupt the Big Apple and have hundreds of kids get out of bed in the middle of night speaks volumes. The Kanye impact can be seen intentionally or at one of his Yeezy fashion show presentations. This insane Yeezy season 3 resemblance may go down in history or as Virgil Abloh stated “The greatest show that never happened,”
Happy birthday Mr. West!
