All of 2016, Nike has been looking to build more energy around its iconic Air Force 1. They have done so by letting singer/songwriter Bryson Tiller, design his own take on the sneaker. Tiller announced the great news of the deal on his Instagram yesterday.
Tiller used the opportunity to make a sneaker inspired by his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. As well as Muhammad Ali, who is also a fellow native of the city. While Nike describes the shoe in detail in a story on its SNKRS page (university red leather, custom tongue tags, boxing glove detailing), it doesn’t actually show off the finished product.
Tiller explained that he has always been a fan of the brand and wore the sneaker growing up.
“I wore a uniform to school, so the white-on-white or black-on-black Air Force 1 Low was the simple sneaker to wear, but it was the standard. You were cool if you had on a pair of Air Force 1s,” Tiller said.
It’s important to note that this isn’t the actual collaboration on the Nike Air Force 1, but more of a next-level NIKEiD design documented by the brand. However, expect a true collab with the sneaker conglomerate and Bryson Tiller very soon!
