To make that move
When you come through
It’s all the little things you do
When I’m with you
I can’t lose’
‘Who Hurt You?’- Daniel Caesar
Geeked, Daniel Caesar gave us two gems in one week! ‘Who Hurt You” is a unique piece by the Canadian singer because he invited his fans to be a part of the story behind the song. He posted on his Instagram story, earlier this week, a picture of a craigslist post detailing a night he had at the infamous Follies strip club in Atlanta. At the bottom of the post, he writes ‘Please email me. Btw, I wrote this song about you its called ‘Who Hurt You?”. You can read the post here.
‘Take me back to Georgia, back to Atlanta
Funny how present turns past
I might fly Priscilla out just for banner
So mesmerized by that ass’
Khalid gives us unparalleled vocals and mid-tempo ballads on ‘Vertigo’. The El Paso native recently released his EP, ‘Sun City’, where he displays versatility and creativity. It is evident that Khalid is growing as an artist and I’m totally here for it!
‘I’ve been better, often broken
I’ve been battered up and beat
I wish I was more outspoken
But the words are out of reach
Hmm, thought I loved you in the moment
I was happy, I was young
I’ve been learning, I’ve been growing’
‘Set me Free’ – Desta Dawn
Stumbled on this gem, ‘Set me Free’, just browsing on SoundCloud and totally got lost in the melody. Desta Dawn delivers blissful vocals and a tender sound while talking about matters of the heart. This song will definitely be on repeat all cuffing season. Can’t wait to hear more from this r&b songstress!
‘Got me floating in your breeze babe, And I know I’m safe when you carry me away, You’re the sun and I know just what I want, It’s the little things you do for me’
‘Once You Say Hello’ – Phony Ppl
Phony Ppl’s ‘Once You Say Hello’ transports you to a fun, funky, and playful atmosphere. It’s a feel-good record that utilizes heavy drums and wild melodies. After a long hiatus, they are back with their album, mō’zā-ik and its nothing short of amazing.
‘Cause it all starts out so perfect
And you feel you both deserve it
So you try hard to decide
Should you strap in for the ride of your life?’
