TLC’s final album is getting released this June! In 2015, TLC announced that they would be releasing their fifth and final album. A Kickstarter was started and it quickly became “fastest most funded pop project in Kickstarter history” raising $430, 255 by the end of the campaign. Donors included New Kids on the Block and Katy Perry.
After the announcement, TLC embarked on U.S Tour with NKOTB and Nelly titled “The Main Event Tour.” They released confirmed a couple songs like “Posh Life” and “Breaking Bad,” everything seemed like it was going well. Then it was announced that that album’s release date had been pushed to 2017 which didn’t go over with fans. But alas the time has come and once again, fans will be able to bump a new TLC album.
In a statement to fans released on their Kickstarter, the R&B group’s manager says “We would have loved to have delivered this album sooner to you but we are confident that you will agree that it was worth the wait when you hear it.”
He also explains that at the start of the campaign they were fueled by emotional energy and had “no music, no producers, no writers, and a few ideas.” He also attributes the wait to the group preparing for their first arena tour since The FanMail Tour.
The album is rumored to feature collaborations with producing legend Dallas Austin and singer turned reality star Kandi Burruss. Both are responsible for writing some of TLC’s classics.
