OITNB star, Dascha Polanco has been an influential figure in the Latinx community over the past few years, and now her hard work has been commemorated.
August 8 has been officially declared “Dascha Polanco Day” in her native New York City. The announcement came from Mayor Bill de Blasio on August 8, during Dominican Heritage Night.
The Brooklyn-raised actress was honored that evening for her philanthropic impact on the Dominican community, her groundbreaking career as a Hollywood star, and for opening a theater program with The Dream Project in her native Dominican Republic.
